Autoclave

Today I studied about autoclaves and SOP of the autoclave, So I thought to write small article what I learn from the SOPs for any person who would like to study.  Autoclave is a specialized equipment used to carry out industrial and scientific processes requiring elevated temperature and pressure in relation to ambient pressure temperature. Autoclaves are use in medical applications to perform sterilization.  PhotoLink: https://www.google.com/searchq=autoclave+machine&sxsrf=ALeKk015_0JI7icmpRvyoWOT7pO9ooi3RA:1588430738705&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjP47jPtZXpAhVQbysKHQfVBuUQ_AUoAXoECBMQAw&biw=1366&bih=610 Autoclave is use for  Cultures and stocks of infectious material,  Culture dishes and related devices,  Discarded live and attenuated vaccines,  Contaminated solid items such as: petri dishes, pipettes, gloves, paper towels,  lab coats, solid and liquid waste,  Items for sterilization such as: glassware, media, liquid solutions

Standard Operating Procedure- SOP

As I am working as a Biomedical Engineer and we are renovation human and animal laboratories, I start to study about equipment SOPs. So I search about SOPs and how to develop SOPs for lab or companies. In this article i am writing about SOPs which i came across during my search.

SOP is set-of instructions given by a company or organization to workers to help carry out complex operations. SOP has set-of step by step instructions. Benefits of SOPs are,

  1. Reduce employee training time
  2. Maintain consistency
  3. Reduce errors and enhance productivity
  4. Meet legal requirements
  5. Transfer work easily
  6. Establish a chain of command
International Council for Harmonisation (ICH) define SOPs as " Detailed written instructions to achieve uniformity of the performance of a specific function".  SOPs mainly used in pharmaceutical and Clinical studies.
When we writing or developing SOPs for any process we have to follow a process. SOPs cannot create overnight, they need all details and investigations of key process.
  1. First we have to develop a list of processes which need SOPs.
  2. We need to plan the process for develop the SOP, which means we have to determine format of the SOP. Then we have to develop SOP template and we have to plan SOP review process.
  3. Collect the informations for SOP from the experts and authorities or departments.
  4. After getting all informations form the relevant parties we can start write and review SOP. It is very important to review completed SOPs from experts and Departments.
  5. After reviewing the SOPs we can publish the SOPs and we have to develop method to maintain the sop over the time. Sometimes we need to review those SOPs every 2 years or shorter period according to the process.
So I started study Autoclave SOP. Once I complete I will come with another article.

Sensors Used in BMS systems

Today I am planing to discuss about sensors used in BMS systems. In my work places used Dwyer sensors for the installation, So most of my explanations will based on this sensors. But there are lots of  sensor manufacturing companies around the world. As we understand previous article BMS system mainly control HVAC system in the building and most of the other services will monitor (Ex. Fire System, Plumbing System...etc.). First I discuss about sensors used in HVAC systems. Find Bellow mostly used sensors in HVAC systems, Temperature sensors  Outdoor Temp and RH sensor Flow switch Pressure Sensors Differential Pressure Sensor  CO2 sensor Static Pressure Sensor Flow Meter Temperature Sensors :  We use two type of sensors in the BMS system, one is duct type and other is immersion type sensors. Duct type mainly used to measure air temperature in air handling unit (AHU) and air ducts. Immersion type sensors use to measure water temperature in chilled water supply and c

Introduction to Building Management System (BMS)

Building Management Systems (BMS) also known as Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Building Management and Control Systems (BMCS). BMS systems are microprocessor based controller network which installed to monitor and control a building technical systems and services as Electrical system, Heat, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems, Lighting Systems, Plumbing Systems and Fire Systems. Other than those systems, CCTV system, Public Addressing System (PA system), Access control system, Lifts, Generators and Solar system also connect to the BMS system via different communication protocols such as Mod-bus, Lonwork, C-bus..etc. So that all systems will work as total integrated system. Some systems are fully controlled by BMS systems but some systems monitoring only. BMS systems are based on open communication protocol named BACnet protocol, which we will discuss later. Also new BMS systems are web enabled  so those BMS systems can access from anywhere in the world.
